Khat-00014-[yasinmedia_com]There will be 12 Imams after me

On the eve of his martyrdom, Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) asked Ameerul Momeneen Ali Ibn Abi Taalib (a.s.): O Abul Hasan, bring a pen and a paper. Then he (s.a.w.a.) dictated his will, in which he said: O Ali, after me there’ll be twelve Imams… you are the first among them and Allah has named you Ali al-Murtaza, Siddique-e-Akbar, Farooque-e-Azam, Al-Maamoon and Mahdi. These names don’t befit anyone else… you are my vicegerent, upon my Ahle Bait and upon my wives. After me, you are the caliph of my nation till you live. Then you hand this over to my son Hasan (a.s.). Then he hands over to my son Husain (a.s.), then… then…then….then…and then when the time of death arrives for Hasan al-Faazil, he will entrust it to his son Muhammad al-Mustahfiz.

(Kitab al-Ghaybah, Shaikh Al-Tusi (r.a.), Pg 107-108)

Jaabir b. Samarah says that he heard the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) saying: ‘There will be 12 caliphs after me’. Then, he (s.a.w.a.) said a sentence which I could not hear. Later my father told me that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said, ‘They will all be from the Quraish’.

(Muntakhabul Asar, Chapter 1, Tradition 1)

Jaabir b. Samarah relates, “The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) prophesied, ‘This religion will remain of great importance till the time 12 caliphs will be in it. On hearing this, the people cried out ‘Allah is Great!’ This led to an uproar in the crowd. After that he (s.a.w.a.) said something which I was not able to hear clearly. I asked my father later about what the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) had said. He replied that the Holy Prophet had forecasted: ‘All of them (12 caliphs) will be from Quraish.’

(ibid, Chapter 1, Tradition 2; Sunan-e-Abi Dawood. (Kitab Al Mahdi vol. 2, pg. 207, Egyptian edition)

Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.) from the sons of Janabe  Fatema Zahra (s.a.)

Janabe Umme Salmah (r.a.) says that she heard the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) saying: ‘He (Mahdi) is from the sons of Fatimah (s.a.)’

(Muntakhabul Asar Pg. 191)

Jesus will pray Namaz behind Imam Zaman (a.s.)

Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said: ‘I swear by the One Who has the power over my being, without doubt, the one (Mahdi) behind whom Hazrat Esa (a.s.) will offer prayers (namaz) is from us. The he put his hand on the shoulder of Imam Husain (a.s.) and said: He (Mahdi) will be from his (Imam Husain’s (a.s.)) progeny.’

 (Pg. 199) Tradition 2 of Chapter 27

Mahdi is from my progeny

Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) says: Al Mahdi is from my progeny. His name is the same as my name. And his kunniyat is the same as my kunniyat. In his physique and character he looks exactly like me. He will be in a state of occultation and there will be confusion (Hayra) in which people will wander about (deviate). Then he will come forth like a sharpy shooting star to fill the earth will justice and equity as it was filled before with injustice and inequity.

(Kamaaluddin Vol.1 Pg.286. Faraidus Simtain Vol.2 Pg.335)

Among the traditions narrated from Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) in Usool Kafi is the following: From Abu ‘Ubaydah al-Hadhdha ’ that His Eminence, Abu Abdillah Sadiq (a.s.) said: “O Abu ‘Ubaydah, when the Qaim of the family of Muhammad rises he shall judge according to the law of Dawood and Sulaiman (a.s.) and he will not ask for evidence and testimony.”

Usool Kafi; Muhammad bin Yaqoob Kulaini; Vol. 2/247

Aban narrates that His Eminence, Abu Abdillah Sadiq (a.s.) said: “The world shall not end till a man from our progeny reappears who will judge like the progeny of Dawood and who will not ask for evidence and test imony; he will restore the rights of every person.”

Ammar Saabiti said: I asked His Eminence, Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.): How will you rule if the kingdom reaches you? He replied: “By divine law and the judgment of Dawood. Thus whenever we have a case to solve whose solution we do not have, Ruhul Qudus will inspire it to us.”

Usool Kafi; Muhammad bin Yaqoob Kulaini; Vol. 2/247

Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) says:

“If there remains only one day for the end of this world, Allah will prolong that day till He does raise a person from my progeny whose name will be my name and whose agnomen will be agnomen. He will fill the earth with justice and equity as it would be fraught with injustice and tyranny.”

(Sunan Abi Dawood, Kitab al-Mahdi, Tr. 2482; Sunan Tirmidhi, Bab-o-Ma Jaa fil Mahdi, Tr. 2231.)

Ameerul Momeneen (a.s.) said to Asbagh b. Nubaatah (r.a.): ‘He (Mahdi) will indeed go into occultation while the ignorant will say that Allah is not in need of the progeny of Muhammad (s.a.w.a.).’

(Muntakhabul Asar Pg. 255)

In Kamaluddin it is narrated from Amirul Momineen (a.s.) that he said from the pulpit of Kufa Masjid:
“O Allah, it is necessary that Your earth does not remain devoid of Your Proof on Your creatures, who may guide the
people to Your religion and who teaches Your religion, so that Your argument is not rendered invalid and those who follow Your saints may not be misguided after having received guidance, whether this Proof be seen and not be obeyed or be hidden and the enemies are lying in ambush for him and himself he is hidden from the view of
the people while his knowledge will not be hidden from the people and his laws are firm in the

Imam Mohammad Jawad (a.s.):

“Verily, the Qaem from us is the very Mahdi; that which is obligatory during his occultation is to await his coming and during his advent to obey his commands.”

Hazrat Imam Amir ul Mu’mineen (a.s.) says

” When our Qaim rises, the sky will send down its drops, the earth will grow its plants, enmity will come out from the servants’ hearts (in order that they live in peace and brotherly love), and savages and beasts will continue to live together peacefully…. ”

Janabe Jabir Ibne Abdullah al-Ansari (r.a.) inquired, “O Messenger of Allah, would his partisans attain benefit from him while he (Imam Mahdi ( a.s.) is in occultation?” The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) replied, ” By the One who has sent me as a Prophet, people will receive light from his splendor and benefit from his guardianship during his occultation just like they benefit from the sun when it hides behind the clouds.”

Imam Moosa Kazim (a.s.) says:

‘Blessed are those of our Shias who during the occultation of our Qaim remain attached to our Wilayat
(guardianship) and who are steadfast in devotion for us, who have declared immunity from our enemies. They are from us and we are from them. And indeed they have preferred us for Imamate and we have also
selected them as our followers (Shia). Congratulations to them and blessed be they (Shias). By Allah, on the Day of Judgment they shall be in our grades.”

The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) declared

“(If one wishes) to have perfect faith and desires that his Islam is best, then he should love Hujjat – Sahebuz Zaman Al Muntazar (Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.)). Whoever loves them (Imams (a.s.)) and accepts their mastership, then I take guarantee from Allah, the High, for Paradise.”
